Professional Painter and Author Reviews the Graco TrueCoat and ProShot, January 18, 2011 This review is from: TrueCoat Plus Paint Sprayer (258863) (Misc.) Like the first pocket calculator, Graco has created a really cool gadget. As with all prototypes there is room for improvement. I have been a painting contractor for 20 years. Never had I the pleasure of using such a unique tool. Knowing Graco's ambition for quality, I know I will give the TrueCoat or ProShot a five star rating in the near future. In my review I will list the Pros and Cons in using Graco's new paint sprayer.
The Pros:
Time is money. One of the hardest obstacles for a painting contractor are painting metal doors or any door. Using a brush leaves ugly brush strokes. I had been using a High Volume Low Pressure or an HVLP sprayer for many years. The aluminum cup gun was very hard to clean, prone to clogging, and slow to paint a door. I resorted to using an airless paint sprayer which takes almost a quart to prime and a gallon to paint a door. There are other hassles using an airless sprayer for small projects: a cumbersome 50' hose, heavy weight... Read more

Graco Truecoat sprayer, October 8, 2010 This review is from: TrueCoat Plus Paint Sprayer (258863) (Misc.) I recently purchased the Truecoat to use mainly for interior trim and cabinetry. After using the sprayer on several projects, I have to the conclusion that it is not really suited for this kind of work.
First of all, there is no flow and fan control other than the size of the spray tip. Even with the smallest tip(#311),using latex enamel, the paint comes out much too fast and heavy.
Second, it will only spray horizontally. If you need to point the sprayer up or down, it will lose it's prime.
Finally, it is fairly heavy, much more than a air powered spray gun.
To be fair, this sprayer is very easy to use and clean. You can litterally be spraying paint right out of the can within 15 minutes after getting it home. It is very well made, well balanced, and the noise level is very acceptable. Its grip and trigger are very comfortable.
So, I would say that this sprayer would be an excellant tool for production work, but for the type of... Read more

I love it, October 23, 2010 By This review is from: TrueCoat Plus Paint Sprayer (258863) (Misc.) The first thing I want to say about this tool is that it can spray a beautiful finish.
Second, is that no thinning of thick latex enamel is done.
Third, quick cleanup as no hose or buckets are involved.
Fourth, doesn't drip.
I bought the "plus" model as it gives you the double piston push
I didn't opt for battery power for 100. more.
For doors, baseboard, etc it's ideal just a simple 2-3 ft mask and spraying inside the home is no problem
Downside: it could work but your not going to spray walls and ceiling with this
Being a suction cup sprayer you can't spray straight up or down
I tried spraying this thick ass bonding primer and the gun did clog up half way through
Once again if you have to do all the doors and jambs in a house: spray prime/spray enamel = one coat no dripping
and a beautiful glass finish
I do hear the previous poster on the no repair of gun issue, my course is to hopefully get a number... Read more
