Decent product if you are aware of and can work within its limitations., September 3, 2009 By This review is from: Wagner 0525001 Power Painter Plus with Optimus (Tools & Home Improvement) Pros:
Two to three times faster than a brush. Nice, even spray. Minimal over-spray. Can handle water based exterior paint with no problem (when using cup). Filter at the end of suction tube prevents clogging. Easy clean up.
Cons:
Loud. Not great for angled spraying. Frequent refill of 1.5 quart cup before all paint is used up. Does spit globs of paint, but you can minimize this.
I have never used any sort of paint sprayer before, so I cannot compare this product to any other. Also, my sprayer is model number 0525151 which I purchased from Lowe's, but it has the exact same specs as this product. It also looks exactly the same except it is black, not yellow. I used this sprayer on an exterior paint job with lots of exposed drain and vent pipes.
First of all, let me state some important details which Wagner did not tell me about this product, and which I figured out myself. As another reviewer said, this sprayer is loud. It sounds... Read more

Not user friendly, June 9, 2009 By LMY "LMY" (SC) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wagner 0525001 Power Painter Plus with Optimus (Tools & Home Improvement) I personally found this product easy to assemble, load and use. I admit, to get the spray coverage applied evenly will take some skill -- the spray seems to provide better coverage at the outer edges than in the middle area so you definitely will be doing 2 coats or respraying the same area over as you go.
Secondly, you'll find that 1.5 quart paint container simply doesn't last long enough. Fence comes in 8' sections and to get this painted with decent coverage, the container held enough paint for no more than 2 panels or 5-10 minutes worth -- so you are frequently refilling the product container. Still have to repaint though, due to uneveness in first coat.
Lastly, my husband who is not great at troubleshooting things continuously had trouble getting the paint to even spray through the nozzle. If you don't ensure the filtered suction tube is seated tightly, it comes loose while you fill with paint or during painting, upon which you will have to uncouple the... Read more

Worthless, June 17, 2009 By This review is from: Wagner 0525001 Power Painter Plus with Optimus (Tools & Home Improvement) Don't waste your money on this POS. If you're painting a large project, like a house or fence, rent a professional sprayer. If you're just painting a small project, use a brush and/or roller, or perhaps, an aerosol spray can. This thing is hard to contol, has a LOT of overspray, and goes through paint like it costs 10 cents a quart. I went through 1 1/2 quarts in 5 minutes or less. It's loud, heavy, and vibrates like all get out. Used it once and took it back for a refund.
